From June to November each year, Walker Bay becomes one of the world’s premier whale watching destinations as Southern Right Whales arrive to mate, calve, and nurture their young. Every trip offers a unique opportunity to witness these gentle giants, along with other marine wildlife that frequent the bay.

The Whale Watching Experience

Step aboard Unathi, a modern 15-metre catamaran designed for comfort, safety, and exceptional viewing opportunities. The vessel is both wheelchair accessible and family-friendly, making it suitable for visitors of all ages.

Your adventure begins at the Hermanus New Harbour, where friendly staff will welcome you before departure. Enjoy complimentary coffee on arrival before taking a short walk to the vessel. After a safety briefing from the crew, you’ll set off on an exciting ocean voyage along the spectacular coastline of Walker Bay.

During the trip, experienced SATOUR-qualified guides share fascinating insights about the whales, marine wildlife, local history, and conservation efforts.
